Santa's on his way

Well we are getting close to the end of term and we are enjoying some lovely Christmas activities.  The children were in for a fantastic treat, watching the KS1 Nativity play "Straw and Order."  It was amazing and a great way to get into the Christmas Spirit.
The children are practising for Strictly X-factor, auditions took place this week.  We hope Simon Cowell will turn up to see the final!  I witnessed some lovely singing and dancing in the Year 3 classroom as rehearsals took place.

The children made lovely Christmas decorations for the school tree in the Hall.  This year the theme was "sparkle"  and ours definitely sparkled! ( I have been removing glitter from my clothes for days!)

The children's decorations have also gone to create a snowman display on the top corridor so if you get the chance, please pop up to see it.

We have a wonderful Jesse Tree in our classroom, the decorations that the children made for homework look wonderful on the tree and the initiative shown in the designs was brilliant.  We had ornaments to represent Adam and Eve, Daniel, Noah, Mary, John the Baptist and many more.

This week we will be singing a whole host of carols in RE, debugging programs in Computing, studying why Cape Kennedy is used to launch rockets and doing some interactive games and problem solving in Maths.  This week has lots of fun packed into it, culminating with Christmas dinner and Christmas parties on Friday.

All that's left to say is Ho, Ho,Ho!!!

Advent

This week we celebrated the beginning of advent. We can't quite believe it is December already and the term really has flown by. Thank you to all those who came to see our class assembly last week. The children all performed and sang brilliantly and all the staff in year 3 were unbelievably proud of them (as i'm sure you all were too!).

Over the last 2 weeks the children have been busy making fossils in science. They have also been making decorations for the Christmas tree, which is now up in the hall. They have been recapping the strategies and methods we have covered in maths and it has really shown how much the children have learned and taken on board this term - they have all worked so hard! In English the children have been doing some fantastic extended writing linked to our English text 'Storm'. In D&T the children have been designing and making 'moving posters' linked to our Geography unit, 'The Sunshine State', producing posters advertising the everglades or the Magic Kingdom.

Next Tuesday year 3 will join year 4 for their reconciliation service which should be a lovely afternoon. We also look forward to lots of festive activities and events over the next few weeks.

We hope you all have a wonderful time at the Christmas fair tomorrow! 🎅
