Network Engineers!

In computing this half term we will be exploring how computer networks allow us to transfer information between computers.

In today's lesson we passed messages around the classroom in the same way as data is transferred in and between networks of computers.

We began by writing our messages which we then broke down into smaller 'packets' of information. We recorded our 'IP address' and that of the recipient on each piece of our data, before sending it out into the network of children in the class who looked for the shortest route to the recipient. Once it reached the recipient they had to put the pieces back together to read their message just like a computer has to reconfigure the data it receives for us to make sense of it.

We discovered how a server can be overloaded when a lot of information is being sent across it at the same time!

3D Shapes

In maths this week we have been exploring 3D shapes, their names and their properties.  Today Year 3 made their own, very impressive, 3D shapes using art straws.

Here are just a few of them...

...but do you know their names?

Fantastic Football!

3L had a brilliant time during their first football lesson on Tuesday afternoon.
They tried to move the ball around the space in as many different ways as possible while maintaining their control of the ball and planning their route between cones.

Sharing Stories and Snacks with Nursery

Yesterday 3L had a wonderful time preparing their story-themed snack boxes and then sharing them with their partner in Nursery at the end of a wonderful 'Healthy Snacks' topic in DT.
